Two weeks ago I blew out a hose under the seat of my '98 Bobcat 863. Had a new hose built, installed it, filled hydraulic resovoir with 5 gallons of pride 68 and started it up. Finished the job no problem then brought it home and let it sit for a week. A couple of days ago I get on it to move it and when I crank it up the oil pressure light comes on and stays on until I cut the machine off 10 seconds later. I finish what I'm doing and crank it up again and this time the light goes off at low rpm and comes back on at high rpm. I replaced my fuel, hyd., and oil filter just to be safe but no luck. Found one loose connection on a pressure switch coming off the front of the filter housing and tightened it. Still nothing and I am clueless. Dealership is closed today so I can't get any help there. If anyone can help I would appreciate it very much. Thanks in advance.

Ok, got it fixed. The oil light coming on just happened to coincide with my real problem. The oil light came on because of the cold temp that morning and according to what I read on Heavy Equip. forums it does that because there's a bypass valve on the filter that opens when the pressure changes then closes when things return to normal. My problem was the wiring harness coming off the fuel shutoff solenoid valve.

I went by the dealer and a mechanic there helped me out with some advice once I told him the symptoms. So after talking with him for a few minutes I cranked up the skid and started to wiggle the wiring when the machine began to die...Bingo! I went in and got the new part and after installing it tested it out again and it did the same thing. So then I started looking at the 1 inch square block that the harness plugs in to. The bottom of it has a plastic nut where 2 wires go in at and I noticed it was loose. After tightening it up I cranked her up again and so far so good. Hopefully I won't have any more problems....I'm just glad it was a cheap fix .

The thick oil sounds perfectly normal, my 853 did that all the time in the winter, thought it can be a indication of too heavy of oil or a plugging filter.
The charge pressure light would come on when first started, in a minute it woud go out but if you increased the throttle too much it would come back on.
I just let it idle until the light when out, then slowly go to work increasing the speed as the oil warmed and flowed better through the filters. In 5 minutes it was business as usual. This only occured in the winter months.
Glad you found the loose conection, the finding part can be a bear.
