Hi,

Wondering if anyone has any experience with a Bolens backhoe that mounts to your 3pt hitch? Mine says Bolens Model 17835. The joystick mounts are obviously fabricated and not working well. If the sticks are rotated just right, the functions work well, but the joysticks want to rotate all the time! So when they do, you have to move the joysticks a different way to get them to work!

I've used a small escavator and an old John Deere Sub Compact with a back hoe and none of them had rotating handles that screwed with the operation.

Anyway, anyone have a picture of how they are SUPPOSED to look like? The hydraulic block looks like it would be easy if there were 4 joysticks that move fore and aft only. However, I have 2 that go fore and aft as well as side to side. The cover only has 2 holes indicating that 2 joysticks is the original configuration.

Anyway, I'll run out and get a picture and post later. Thanks for any help in advance.

I am just guessing but I would doubt that Bolens made there own backhoe to put on their tractors. They probably just rebagged another manufacture's hoe. I bought what was sold as a Yanmar backhoe cheap because they could not get parts. After a little research I figured out it was actually made by Woods and parts were very easy to get. Post a couple of pictures and maybe someone here can identify who actually made it.

THanks for the tip Sam. I was starting to think the same since I've been doing LOTS of google searches with NOTHING. I see they sourced out their own engines, so I was figuring maybe they were doing the attachments too. I'll go out and get some pictures and report back.

BTW, where you from in Maine? I'm in the Ellsworth area.

Here are some pictures:

That is a Woods backhoe also. My guess a BH 750. Many dealers carry that brand of equipment. You can download the manuals from there website. It looks like you need to get the part that will keep the backhoe from raising the 3 point hitch arms when you put the stabilizers down or have a downward force while digging. That is shown in the manual.
I live in the southern part of Maine in the town of Alfred.

Thanks for the confirmation Sam. When I bought the tractor off the park, the maintenance guy told me it was extremely similar to a Woods BH. When I went to Greenway Tractor in Ellsworth, the scoffed at me and one guy even rolled his eyes at me as he said:

"Do you know how many times a day someone comes in and says their equipment is similar to some other equipment and they don't have a clue what they are talking about? About 15 times a day"

I was very put off by his comment, and repeated that it was my first tractor, and was only repeating what I was told. I stated I got it from the Park and I was pretty sure they've had LOTS of equipment and knew what they were talking about. He was of no help and he wouldn't try and flip through any books or anything for hydraulics to help me out. Looks like I need to go to Bangor for any help sadly.

I assume the 750 stands for 7.5'?? How to I measure the "length" of my backhoe arm to determine it's size? From the boom pin to the bucket pin? Or from the Boom pin to the tip of the bucket fully extended?

Thanks for the help. I'll start looking online at Woods set ups to see if I can find any similarities.

EDIT: Ha! You were dead on Sam. First result on google got me a diagram from Messiks for a BH750 and a BH650 http://www.messicks.com/Woods/17.aspx. Controls are EXACTLY the same, and I see how the Park tried to make thier controls similar. I should be able to fab something up now. Thanks for the terrific help man!
