I have a Bolens Iseki G154 with a two cylinder engine. it currently has a horizontal exhaust and i would like to put a vertical pipe. does this engine need a muffler to supply adequate back pressure or could i go with a straight pipe. any input is appreciated. thanks.

Can you just rotate the muffler and add a stack?

mine is not able to be rotated. it has one pipe coming out from each cylinder into the the muffler in two different places. will a straight pipe be harmful for the valves or would it be ok. im just looking for the cheapest way to put a vertical exhaust. thanks iternawheel

My ISEKI is a 3 cyl. Mitisbushi diesel engine and the square flange on the main muffler can be mounted on the side or upright.....yours bein a 2 cyl. maybe has not this option....

maybe you could have something adapted or custom made to work....as for will a straight pipe be harmful on the valves...I don't know what to tell you....

perhaps someone else can chime in here with much more knowledge than myself ....bein' this ISEKI G-174 is my first liquid cooled diesel engine type tractor...my two other tracors were only lawn tractor 1 cyl. air cooled gasoline Briggs & Stratton engines...completely different...nothing is impossible though.... so with that said just be patient someone will be able to help you with the info your lookin' for I'm sure...take care Ampa

Iterna, I have a TX1500F with the same exhaust.
I don't think you can turn the muffler itself but you should be able to put some type of L pipe extension off of the end of the muffler.

While I have not done this yet it's the only solution I can come up with to keep the exhaust from hitting the backside of my FEL and comming back into my face.
Post a picture of whatever you come up with.

Sideways, I also have a Model TX 1500F (2 cylinder). The muffler is gone. I was quoted $700 for a replacement. I am fabricating an exhaust manifold with an up right muffler. I will take some pictures and see if I can figure out how to post them.
