Bolens-Iseki Tx 2160 (g174 3cyl) Charging problem

Iseki tx2160 charging problem. charging light stayed on, replaced voltage regulator, light now not on if reg. unplugged, light on if plugged in. before replacing regulator, light on plugged in or unplugged . Can anyone give advice???

Without more information I'd say just replace the alternator at this point and you should be up and running since you've already replaced the regulator. If you're handy with a multi-meter you could do some more troubleshooting and narrow down the cause which may just point to the alternator anyway. They can be rebuilt but most people just get a replacement. NHMitch posted a link for a replacement that was a reasonable cost. You should be able to do a search for it to find it.
