I discovered a bolt missing from the FEL 410 sub frame attachment arm to the chassis (picture attached). It looks like it was snapped off at the dealer while being installed, since i only just used the machine last weekend somewhat hard, I doubt I had anything to do with it snapping. Is this a bolt I need to address immediately or it can hold off for a while...do they snap in general?

The dealer may have overtorqued it and weakened it. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

If it was me I'd get it fixed before stressing it again. A missing or broken bolt can do a lot of expensive damage if left unrepaired.

I wouldn't let it go without fixing it. The other bolts may not be able to take all of the extra loads being imposed. I think you hit upon the most logical explanation -- whoever installed it at the dealer overtorqued it (and maybe the other) bolts. I would have the dealer remedy this ASAP.

Thanks guys, when I noticed it i figured i had to address it soon because its on the arm for the FEL....
If I did this, I'm wondering how I did, and so quickly....but I think the dealer torqued the crap out it and it poped off...maybe even before I used it
It will be fixed before using again...just dont have the tools for it, so i may have the dealer do it...
Wondering if this bolt popped on other peoples 4100 series??

I dont see how you could ahve done that to the bolt. I bet the dealer did it,may they didnt realize it or the broken bolt didnt surface but they should correct it for free, let us know how you do with it.

A couple of years ago when I was installing my 410FEL, I broke the same bolt off. My torque wrench screwed up and it snapped pretty easily. I think they are only torqued at 60fp or so. It should not be too hard to replace, the broken bolt on mine backed right out by hand.

Yes, Yes, YES… to all the above… too much money invested there… not to mention the safety issue… /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I would get a replacement bolt from the dealer and then remove all the sub frame bolts one at a time and examine them for damage and then torque them to specification myself. I suspect that someone at the dealer's facility either ignored the torque specification or, more likely, used an air impact wrench set at crush to do the job the first time. Why let them do it again or only retorque one bolt?
