Bolt-on Bucket Ski's (Edge Tamers, $80/pair), or plastic edge for bucket ($460 for a 48" bucket, delivered)?

it plows much cleaner without the Tamers installed
Yes to this, they're like snagging a little branch under the lip and dragging it through the snow.

I used a riding lawn mower, with a blower on the front, for several years. It lacked traction, so I put chains on, and it even had posi-traction on the rear wheels. Still managed to spin the tires on my blacktop driveway, in the Winter, leaving marks that showed up when the snow/ice melted. The Mahindra eMax 20's 48" bucket, with ski's, has never left a mark on the blacktop. Their steel rubs against the blacktop, only when the snow is melted off, and after last season, they never left a mark. This is my 2nd season with the ski's. No issues, yet, other than leaving a one-inch layer of snow/ice on top of the blacktop, as there is no cutting edge, just the upturned ski edges. The paint wore off the bottoms of the ski's, immediately, but the steel is holding up quite well, even though they are Chinese knock-off's of Edge Tamers.

I just wonder if a plastic edge will scrape down to the pavement enough, to warrant the investment in such a rig. I considered drilling holes into my bucket's bottom-side, to attach my own edge of plastic. Still thinking of going that route, to save money. I don't see a need for a metal board that bolts onto my bucket, other than for convenience and speed of mounting. I may yet go the home-made route, bolting on a plastic bar to my bucket's edge, myself.

I found a plastic bar for <$100, which should work. I would just need to drill mounting holes in the plastic bar (counter-sinking, as mentioned previously), and in my bucket. Loads of options. Just short on real-world experiences sharing how well the plastic edges work, compared to the edge ski's. Hate to waste the time, energy, and money, on the plastic edge, if it won't improve the performance enough to warrant the investments. Cheers!
