Bolt size

This is a metric bolt question . It measures 0.227" diameter and about 2-1/2". That falls between M5 & M6. It's a '97 F-150 V-6 upper intake manifold bolt. The head size is 8mm hex head for 8mm socket. Did Ford make proprietary special bolt for the upper intake manifold? Any Ford bolt experts out there. I need two more of these bolts. I haven't measure thread pitch as I don't have pitch guage. bjr

Why can't you just order these bolts from Ford im sure they can look up the manifold bolts.I haven't heard of a M5.5 but I do know the most common pitch are 1.00,1.25 and 1.50.You should also be able to order these bolts from any performance store that carries ARP replacement bolts

6 mm = .236" so strongly suspect a 6 mm.

6mm x 65 mm long is 2.56"

After spending some quality time in "Machinery Handbook" I see where the M6 x 1 hex flange screws (what came out of the engine) are 8mm heads and the M6 x 1 Hex hex head screws are 10mm heads across the flats. That is what was really messing with me was the different socket sizes. So, good call oldnslo. I'll put in a call to the local bolt-n-nut supply house this afternoon. I've got to try and get those rounded off screws out tonite some how. With the bad bolts being on the back side of the engine, it's like trying work small bread box on the Cab Forward Design. Thanks again for setting me straight. The truck belongs to my Grandson and after spending time with me pulling the engine out of the truck, he's nickname me Old AND Slo AND Grumpy. bjr
