Bolting tire chains to rims?

I have wondered if a system like this could not be made for a tractor?
We use them on our plow trucks. They're expensive, not much good once you get stuck as you need the rotation to throw the chain under the tire, hang quite low so on a tractor they may get knocked off......Mike

Don't recall ever buying new chains for my 4x4s, ATVs or tractors. Bought lots at yard and auction sales though. There is a truck stop that gets a lot of logging business that sells chain parts (crosslinks, connectors) when I need something in a hurry but mostly its a hammer, vise, pry bar and cut-off disk in the grinder. The cross links may be hardened but the side joiner links are soft and bend easy, even better with the special pliers(so I'm told). The long side links last forever and i replace the cross links as needed.
I normally put my chains on my 4300 when the rain starts in the fall (Oct) and remove them in the spring when the mud dries up.

My Father in law had a few short chain sections bolted together, through the hub over the rim, on his old farm all tractor, on each wheel and it worked on ice and I never saw any damage to it,

I run 2 link ladder chains on loaded 33" turf tires.....
Cost something less than $200 from a JD dealer.....

Going into my 4th winter with them now. They show minimal ware...
I keep them snug when installed... And use bungy cords inside and out...
Well worth the price..... Would go this route again in a heartbeat...

Good luck
