I enjoy painting- I like the way things look after being well painted and find it rewarding. I have a lot of stuff around that needs painting and am trying to become more efficient and get better results. This varies from trailers, implements, possibly a vehicle or two eventually. I know very little about the different types of paint, my experience basically includes rust-oleum type products usually sprayed with a gun. I do a lot of online reading, but it is very scattered info. When I venture to do things, I like to know as much as possible about it and this is one subject that is more confusing the more I find out, so I am hoping that I can find a book or two or five that will guide me. Where I get really confused is the different types of paint (enamel, urethane, epoxy) available and there advantages/ disadvantages, as well as different additives and their effects... different painting techniques for different types of paint, and compatibilty of different primers/ prep work. I know there is a lot of information out there, and I enjoy reading so if anyone has any suggestions on different books that are worth reading, I would appreciate it.
I have been on amazon to read different reviews, but many of the books I was looking at had no reviews. I have come across some literature that my dad had that was put out by manufacturer's such as dupont on their automotive paint systems that were pretty informative but also pretty outdated and were manufacturer specific.
