where can I buy the cheapest boom pole?

If you have a welder, pile of scrap pipe, and not charge your own time then you can do it on the cheap. The one I made below cost me less than $10, I also had a bit of paint (Rustoleum sp?) leftover that I used up. If I have to buy it then TSC and KK is one place, watch for their sales.

Yes sir, 2" thick wall pipe, on top of that it ain't your normal sch 40 but it is sch 80. I intercepted the loot on one of my projects on it's way to a land fill. The pipe served as a part of Low pressure return (steam condensate), no rust at all but needed a big angioplasty and it was full of solid crud. I shook off 5 lbs of stuff from the inside. I cut it to size and threaded the ends and for good measure welded the joints shut. Although I'm not at all proud of my welding prowess a bit of side grinding goes a long way to try to pretty things up. With all of that when I tried pull a 6" post from the ground it bended it a little less than 1/8" in 6 feet. I went to plan "B" and stiffened the top with a piece of uni-strut.

JC,

P.s. I could have bought the KK much cheaper in total effort but would not have the fun I had.

Looks fine to me. I sometimes build vs buying.. either just because.. or 'need it now'.

While I could have bought a steering draglink for my 951 I am working on.. I opted to weld one up.. here is before / after.

Looks good, wondered what could cause the bend like that in the first place. Did the front fell in to the hole and the draglink took the fall on something?

Dunno.. happend before i owned it.

System used to have power steering.. but pump and cyl were removed, and the old actuator rod fo rthe steering vslve was crudely welde dtot he front support wher ethe cyl whould have bolted to, and to the draglink/tie rod. I 'almost' thinkt he prev owner bent the rod to make it fit, as it would be too long to use welded straight... I whish he would have simply cut the 'long' end off and made it look half way decent.. then i wouldn't have had to further dink with it. but who knows.. it might a hit a treelimb /stump or something?
