Boom vs. cluster????????

I've got a Hahn sprayer with a 40' boom. Great for soybean fields, but kinda large for spraying the lawn /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

My 2-1/2 gallon back-pack sprayer is as much "under-kill" as the Hahn Hi-Boy is overkill. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

So.... It's time for yet another NEW TOY /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I've been looking at a 65 gallon sprayer at TSC. (3 point hitch) I can buy the spray outfit, roller pump, "spot-spray wand", and all the assorted goodies that I need for around $675, plus the gov'ners cut. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

There's two options. It comes with either a 10' boom (7 nozzles) that covers 12'. OR.. A "boomless" set-up. It has cluster nozzles on each side. The manufacturer CLAIMS a 40' spray pattern at 30 PSI, and 30' at 20 PSI. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I've never used this type of cluster spray nozzles. How accurate are they? Do they actually spray the pattern they claim? I'm positive that wind would disrupt the pattern. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

The intended use is to spray 2-4D, maybe some Grazon, and sometimes, liquid nitrogen fertilizer. ( I USUALLY have a couple hundred gallons left over after corn planting season. It's GREAT to green up the yard /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif)

Anyone with experience using the TSC (FIMCO) sprayers?

Sort of but not exactly. I built my own spray rig out of parts from TSC and Northern Tool. My Spray Rig.

Mine has 2 tanks, both 15 gallon. One tank is used for killing, the other is for growing. I'm sort of **** about mixing using herbicides and pesticides around the stuff I eat and the areas where my child & pets play so I keep one tank strictly organic. If I had to do it over again, I would have used 2 tanks, but they would have probably been 25 gallon tanks instead of 15 gallon.

So far I have not had any problem with either of the pumps, etc.

I use the TSC sprayer. It works well. I use the 10 foot boom, not a believer in the boomless. I do not like drift around the house and find the center nozzle creates a great deal of fine particles. I do think you are a bit high on the price. I just got mine last year with all the goodies for just under $550. One sits at our TSC store right now for a large discount.

I'm buying it with the "spot-spray gun", several extra nozzles, strainers, and a pump rebuild kit. Also that includes a top-of-the-line roller pump. Spray rig itself is $408.

Looks like you have more add-ons than I got with mine. I am happy with it. I have used a center nozzle many years ago. Wife does not like all the plants getting hit with drift. I think you will like the 65 gallon sprayer. I use it to spray the fence rows around our farm and the yard. I like the boom with Raindrop nozzles. Tell me what you decide.
