Considering a 21-25-29 Boomer.
Will the weight of these tractors tear up grass on dry ground? Is supersteer recommended by owners on for use on lawns? Durability of mower decks? Who makes the 3 cylinder engines? Currently own John Deere's-- is the Boomer a step backward?

Lots of questions, few answers from dealer. Feedback from owners would be helpful. Many thanks in advance.

I have a TC33D and wished I owned one earlier. With the STD steering and the Ind. tires I do not tear up the lawn turning. The Land Pride 72" - rear discharge mower requires about 200#s of weight in the front. The engine has been discussed in earlier chat questions and has been used in NH skidloaders for years.

LarryG,I have the tc21d,shibura is the motor, the only time I scuff the lawn is when I am going like a madman cutting the grass and turning quickly. The weight of this tractor is almost 1000lbs.less than the 25or29.The 60in. midmount deck cuts great and is made pretty beefy.Cant comment on supersteer(not needed on 21)but would consider it on a larger model.Guess it all depends what your needs are.

Larry:
I have a TC 21D with turf tires. A lot of my yard is very soft but I have had no problems tearing up the turf. I see more damage on the yard from the wheels on the mower deck, but that's only when I almost in the swam.

Larry, I just got my TC21D last Friday(1st tractor) and the 1st thing I did was park on the sod and take a photo. It barly even dinted the grass and it was damp.Bought it with R4's and box blade. Waiting on the FEL to arrive.I looked at Kubota and JD as well mostly ruled out Jd simply because I felt any of the three would be a good buy.But JD was a good 3K higher here in Bama. That and I just liked the boomer. Also I will only be working 8.5 acres so I don't need a realy bigg machine as much as would love to have one, of any of the three.Good luck.

Larry,
I have had a 29D for about 1 year, and am very pleased. I mow with a Landpride rear discharge deck(72"), that does an excellent job. I have the turf tires, but was concerned about mud/snow traction. They are a "Titan" turf tire, and are much more aggressive than other turf designs I had seen. They provided excellent traction in snow and mud, and no damage to the yard. I would go with the "D" for the hydro, its awsome!

I've got about 300 hrs. on a TC29D, and would just add a ditto to what everyone else has said. As far as it being a step backward, I guess that would be just a matter of opinion. I'm not one to get hung up on a name plate or color. I think any of the big three you see on this board will give good service. When you mention the name Zetor most people will hold their nose and say " it's a third world tractor". Yea it is, but I still think it's a pretty good tractor for the money. To me the key was a sound, reliable dealership, that would stand behind their product. The NH dealer I bought from was all that and, just more willing to go that extra yard. Best of luck

Larry,

The weight of these units should not tear up grass, unless you have golf green quality turf. Supersteer is nice but not a necessity, it adds to the manueverability (I love mine /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif).

Larry,
I've been running a TC29D all spring & summer, with Turf Tires and a NH 914 60" MidMount side discharge mower deck. I checked all the colors of tractors before my purchase. I believe NH is on top. For sure, no one, NO ONE, makes a heavy duty fabricated mid-mount mower like NH. I refused to purchase anything other than a fabricated deck. The stamped steel units just don't seem like they would hold up to rougher ground.

As to ground marking, the only marks I see are where I have repeatedly rounded trees. Sharp turns do take their toll.
