Has anyone installed one of these Enhanced user interface kits on the CVT tractors? I bought a new 54D about a year ago and found that I thought I would like the enhancemant kit for it. Pre set cruise, programmable speed levels etc.

I just brought a kit home today and installed it. It comes with instructions and is really easy. Basically just snap in the new switches and plug them in. Harness is already there and labeled.

Now my problem. I jumpered the correct pins in the diagnostic plug to get me into HH program mode. I went through and changed the menu from standard to deluxe. It will not save the deluxe setting. Don't care how many times you do it it will not stay. it will always be on standard when you come back to that menu. None of the programable features are accessible.

Anybody have any ideas?:(

Jeff, I recently got a 54D and had the selling dealer install it, so I can't tell you why it doesn't work. Can you talk to the service department at your dealer? There are some members on tbn very knowledgeable about new Hollands, hopefully some can reply.

I was going to have the dealer do also since it is brand new. Problem is it is snowing here and there is no way I am taking it back to the shop in this **** salt! I looked at the kit and figured I build engines I should be able to handle three switches and a decal. Well $@#&.

Overall how do you like the tractor and does the enhance kit make it nicer? I really like mine but I do have one real complaint. I have been using mine for quite a bit of pto work and when you have the pto speed where you want it you can not change ground speed without overspeeding the implement. You ought to hear the cutterbar on the haybine screaming at 600+ rpm. There needs to be a way to disable the automatic throttle. I like it most of the time but get really agitated with this situation. You can use the cruise to an extent but its no good for quick speed changes like headland turns.

Jeff, I can't compare the "unenhanced" version with the "enhanced". I only drove the unenhanced at the dealers lot, not using it in real world use. The review that tbn member jk96 gave of his farmall 55c with the ability to change ranges 1-2-3 on the fly is what interested me in the user upgrade (enhanced). When the salesman from the dealer came out to value my trade, I had him bring the 54D owners manual with him so I could study it before we made a deal. I had them install it, I believe there is some programing involved. I don't think you can set pto speed with the cruise. You can set it, with the manual throttle, to the pto rpm that you want and vary the groung speed with the selection of range and foot control. Does this make sense?

It you are correct about the programming that's what won't stay. Click Deluxe and then enter. should stay in that menu right? Nope.

You are correct about setting the pto speed with the hand throttle. Yes you can vary the ground speed with the pedal as long as you stay under what the computer thinks it will run in mph at pto speed.

Lets say you are running a haybine and have it set at 540 pto and 3.5 mph cruise in low range. Now you get to the headland and have a long turn around distance from one side to the other. You can not stomp the pedal down and run over there at 9 mph without making the engine go wide open and overspeeding the haybine.

try this with yours and you will see what I mean.

I think I understand. Have you tried changing to hi range for your long turn, and then back to low for the return to cutting?

I have had a 3 point tiller and a brush hog on the pto and don't recall it ever going over the 540 pto rpm but then again I probably wasn't going too fast. Next time I get the brush mower on I will go fast and check it. I love my 54d so far. Let us know how you like the enhanced interface. Mine is just the standard I think.

IT, yes you can do that but being lazy it would be nicer to just step the pedal down with out stopping. Since you are supposed to stop to switch ranges that gets troubling too. I also found that for what I do I wish it had a cruise cancel button instead of hitting the brakes. One thing I did discover spreading anti skid with the cruise set and throttle at 1200 rpm is just flip it into reverse. It comes to a perfect stop and then takes of just perfect in reverse. Get back to where you want to be and slap it in forward. Perfect stop and start again. SWEET!

New, give it a try set hand throttle to pto speed, then set the cruise 3.5 mph. Then as you are cruising just step down on the pedal.

I have my dealer working on this programing problem but have not heard back from him yet.

JeffD11N,you don't have to stop to change ranges. I know the book says to stop. Hit the switch and lightly let off the throttle and back down, it shifts.

Hey jeffd11, I tried a little experiment today. I turned on the pto set the hand throttle for 540 pto speed. I then started going, set the cruise at 3.5mph then I pushed the foot control to speed up. It held 540 pto rpm until I got to about 13mph then it went to 550rpm. Never got above 550pto rpm even at full speed. One foot note was this was no load on the pto. All my attachments are buried under snow. A question for you. Do you have the 250tla loader? I do and it won't lift the front end of the tractor off the ground.
