I don't know if it will be shown on TV, but as I was looking through the Barrett-Jackson auction catalog I spotted a Boomer 8N. Today starts the Palm Beach Barrett-Jackson sale. The Boomer 8N is lot 29. It will be selling as just the tractor. I'm quite curious to see how it does.

I see that it sold for $23.1K after the buyer's commission.

Just curious.

Was the sale televised?

Any thoughts on how the buyer made out price-wise? (I have no way of knowing the hours, but the tractor and tires looked pristine from what I could make out from the photos.)

Yeah, it would have been televised, but I missed it. It sold for $21,000 on air. If I had to guess, the Boomer 8N would have been new. B-J usually sells oddball stuff like this either new or fully restored.

Boy whoever bought it bought a 21k dollar headache! What a piece, this thing was an overpriced, underdeveloped, play pretty! NH thought these would sell like hotcakes, but they couldnt give em away..lol..too many electrcal problems. I bet the Go pedal quits working in less thann 20hrs!

Any idea of the MSRP on the Boomer 8N?

I noticed that a local (Upstate SC) NH dealer has had two on the lot for several months.

Maybe some of the Boomer 8N's target demographic remembered their fathers' and uncles' HD nostalgia ventures ?

Nahh, 50 years ago was 50 years ago.
1907 design (if there WAS "design") belongs in 1907

For tractors, for motorcycles, I'll go with CURRENT designs.
{I don't drive my father's Oldsmobile either}

The MSRP was supossed to be around 32k, but there were too many problems, not enough buyers and a bad economy. It failed miserably..lol...now they just about cant give em away.

Yep! The handwriting was on the wall from the beginning. Too bad. . . it was and is a fine looking machine. Now, the CVT is orphaned along with the Shibaura tractors. I just hope all of those who own them have good luck keeping them running. I would love to own one, but I would have a hard time working it hard like my TC45D. But gosh! They sure are pretty.:D

I gotta tell you, I am loving my new 8N. The CVT transmission is great - all the power and convenience, but none of the whine of a hydro tranny. Plus, power to boot - did I say that already?

The prices they are moving them at are a tremendous value now - a 50 hp state-of-the-art tractor for a price in the 20s. You just can't beat that.

I'm glad they weren't selling, because I would never have been able to afford one at the list price. I was looking in the 35 hp range, because that's what I could afford, but was able to get this because NH had bad luck in their timing.

I was not pleased with the dealer delivery and their attitude, but I bought it from an out-of-state dealer and poor service and shyster tactics are the price of the discount. They know I am not a long-term service customer, so why shouldn't they try to stiff me? (By the way, I did run the final price by my local dealer, and he couldn't touch it.)

So. Good tractor. Good price.

I'm still on the fence in purchasing one.

Whats the problems with the CVTs?
