Hi, I have a 2015 MF1736. The engine listed is the same as in the 1742.
Has anyone programmed the computer to match or exceed the 1742 output?
I tried searching for engine tuners but everything I found was for big machines.
I appreciate any advice on the subject.

Buy an engine controller for a 1742. Same part as the 1736. Bad thing is, it has to be flashed. No dealer in their right mind is going to do that for you. Their license will be revoked by AGCO.

Massey and other brands of tractors have not released this information to any other diagnostic companies.

Snap-On provides the diagnostic software to John Deere and AGCO. This stuff is not available to the public. Can't even buy it off the truck.

Then, there are those validation codes that you need to unlock the software. Those are only available from the manufacturers as well.

Changing dash parameters does NOT affect horsepower.

It's near impossible unless you work at the dealer and flash your own tractor. I still wouldn't do it.

The air filter is way bigger on the 1742 vs 1736 due to more air volume being sucked in too. Little things like that have a major effect on your hp and performance too.

If anyone else has any information on an aftermarket diagnostic tool that can get into Shibaura and Mitsubishi, please let me know.

Thanks for the info. I’m just looking around to see if it’s been done or can be. I’d be ok with a tuner and such if it wasn’t a big deal. It’s ok the way it is. Just curious how readily available a programmer would be. I have no idea how much better 6hp would be in actual use or where to begin looking for reputable providers.
I’m guessing they don’t bother making anything for the little guys, just big equipment and trucks.

That seems to be the case. I've searched high and low, but can't find anything. Diesel Spec Agriculture offers a tuner chip, but I don't have any experience with them, nor do I know anyone who has any experience with them.

I'm pretty sure you can tune it to 49hp, but not sure if the internals of the transmission can handle the load. I know for a fact that the front axle is totally different too.

The steering cylinder is on the backside vs the front and the differential is more robust. Also, the bigger axle has a top kingpin and bevel gear vs just a bevel gear.

I bought a brand new Ford 1700 in '82. By 2009 I decided I needed more hp & weight. I traded the Ford in and got a 2009 Kubota M6040. Problem solved.

Yes sir, point well made.

I discourage chip tuning. If you tune your truck engine, you better have the transmission rebuilt and chipped too. Then, the driveshaft and universals.

Making one part stronger weakens the rest of them.

I wasn’t looking to go that far. In the manual the 1736 and 1742 are the same other than power output. It seems like an easy, minimal boost to the same power plant. The other models have different engines, etc..
Thanks for the insight. Something to think about.
