I tore a one inch by one inch flap on my 14.9x28 tractor tire. First flat should I have it revulcanized or will a boot hold up. This tire is on a m4900 kubota tractor

I had a hole in mine almost that big. They said they could boot it if it was in a certain place on the tire. Mine wasn't and I had to have it revulcanized. It held but I had another leak so finally had to " slime " it. It has done great. Oh! the vulcanizing patch cost about have what the tire would have cost to repair. If it wasn't only a month old I would have just changed it.
