Bought a 1240

I wanted to let all posters know that I appreciate all the comments that where made about MF tractors. I read them all and it helped me make the decision to buy the 1240 in the picture. It has the 1246 loader on it, and came with single remotes in the back and a box blade. I compared specs with Kubota and JD in the same HP range and compared prices given from http://www.machinerylink.com/ to come to the conclusion that the MF was more bang for the buck. My particular setup lifts more and weights more then the other two mentioned. At least by specs given out on their websites.
I think it was in this forum where I read that a 1200 series tractor that someone was looking at, could not lift the front wheels off the ground with the loader. Mine had no trouble at all, at an idle. Yesterday I picked up a bucket full of small crushed rock buried under a snow bank, so the loader has plenty of grunt. Most likely because it is the biggest one you can order for the 1240. that's a nice piece of equipment.ditto on the pics.I ended up w/the same conclusion about bang for buck.And I liked my local massey dealer best.what kind of deal did you get?Is the 1240 still current or where all 1200's replaced by 1400's

/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Thanks for the comments on the tractor, I have only this other picture for now. Sure I will get some more in the future. I actually purchased the MF from a Kubota dealer. I guess I back spaced over my previous post where I was mentioning that it is used. Has 350 hours on it. I am still trying to find out the year on the machine. It was purchased from the MF dealer in 2001 but I do not know how long it was on the lot. Have not found a date on any tags, only SN's. Using that year and http://www.machinerylink.com/ pricing data, I came in about $1500 under that listing. Add a loader, remotes, and Box blade I figure I am a few thousand under that listing. All the Kubotas and JD's I looked at were 1-2K over that listing.

Hi Larry: I have been holding back posting this, because it is just to bazar to be true.

But I am the other person who posted, "I just bought a 1240".
My name is also Larry, and I also bought the tractor from a Kubota dealer. That means we are both very intelligent new "Fergie" owners, or maybe we were accidentially seperated at birth. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hey SixGunSix-Larry, I just read your post on buying a 1240. I have been gone for a while. That is a unique coincidence. I checked out your pictures of your 1240. Another nice Massey! I have been getting acquainted with my 1240. Change engine oil and filter, adjusted clutch and brake. I see it is at the time interval to change transmission and axle oils also.
