After months of looking at new, used and all sorts of tractors.... I think I found a fairly good deal.

L2950 GST w/400hrs
mid/rear PTO, 540/1000/2000
LA 450 FEL
Kubota 60 Rototiller
Landpride 60" brush hog
landpride 60" box scraper
landpride 60" rake
Brush Hog auger
rinky dink sprayer

and last but not least.... top of the line hardly used Bear Cat chipper

All this for 15K though it does have a bit of front end damage, the guy dropped a rock on it then bought the front grill guard. I do have a couple questions now that I've roto'd about 3 acres for future pasture.

When I enguage the drive either by going from neutral to any gear there seams to be a delay, is that normal? If I'm already in a gear and go from neutral to forward or reverse there is no delay but if I'm simply changing gears, esp. on an uphill slope it tends to delay.

I also had to remove the safety on the PTO lever as it had a hard time enguaging to allow for starting. The Prev owner said he had that fixed, it just seems like a hokey switch to me, any upgrades for that?

So far I have only used to brush hog , roto. and box scraper. Had to rebuild the driveline on the roto as it hadn't been used in quite a time and may have to do the auger as well.

Thanks for any and all info !!!

Hello Tim
This sounds good on price…
The shift delay is the GST doing everything it needs to do for a gear change. That is normal. Do you know the service history? When was the last transmission hydraulic fluid and filter changed??
In a cold climate, at initial start up…There is a slight improvement in gear change using SUDT (multi viscosity) trans/hydro fluid over straight weight UDT… however a synthetic is only slightly more $ than SUDT and has other advantages.
It sounds like you went from no equipment to almost everything you will need. Good luck and happy trails, KennyV.

I forgot to mention.. Your starter pto issue…
you can install a relay to energize the starter solenoid… the relay will allow for the voltage drop through your safety switch circuit. With this you will still have all your safety switches in the starting path, but the relay will apply a full 12 volts to the starter solenoid.
You can make this yourself using a Bosh or Bosh type SPST relay.
Using the normal starter and safety circuit to energize the ‘new’ relay, (those relays will energize at 5volts),
Have 12 volts applied with this ‘new’ relay to the starter solenoid.
Everything will work better than when that tractor was new. With this type of upgrade all your safety switches are still functional and the starter will always have full voltage to engage. KennyV.

Thanks for the info Kenny, I appreciate it.

The tractor has been well maintained at 6 month intervals, I'll have to check on the type of oils. My location is in the mountains at about 2700' so it's cold in the winter (down to zero sometimes) and hot in the summer (over 100 alot)

Actually I had an older IH crawler loader with a 4in1 bucket for the last few years that I did most of the big work I had to do. Starting with virgin ground I have done tons already. I wanted a tractor with the 3pt so I could do more of a variety. The only thing I want now is a backhoe, I'll continue to look for that too.

Thanks again,
Tim
