Here's a closer look. It seems to be in very good conditon. The engine is a 2 stroke JLO from Germany. The mower is made in England. I'm not sure if they are still imported. I do see some electric models on ebay but not in the USA.
WOW... After seeing the picture I remember the advertisement from the 70's or 80's... In the ads the mans was mowing the yard with back and forth swinging motions..
It mows well. It uses .155 stringline instead of a blade. It does indeed hover and has a fixed throttle, as such no height adjustment. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it, I really didn't need it, I just thought it was cool.
I found another one, here. These are made in Maine.
When I was on the Flymo page, I clicked on the country link but, they didn't list USA /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif.
Husqvarna also sells their model in the US. Go to http://www.usa.husqvarna.com and click on "Product & Manual Search" then put in "HVT52" in the product section.
i bought one of those flymo's at an auction back in the 80's. got it for next to nothing. it had a kawasaki 2 cycle engine. i used it for years at my mothers house to cut a very steep hill. when she moved south i really didnt have a use for it at my place. so i removed the engine and tossed the rest. but that bugger mowed that hill like nothing else. you would just swing it side to side, and were finished in no time. i shelved the engine for a future R/C boat project, which i still have not gotten around to yet.
