I know you're not much of an R4 fan, and I think it's totally justified. In my experience, they're fair weather tires.
Having said that, every time I look at my rears, I am amazed at how massive they are. I think I am taking the wrong approach. Instead of loading them for traction and ballast, I should try to use them as sort of "high flotation" tires. No seriously. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif I'm going to let the water out of them and give them a try minus the 700# each this winter. The weight is admittedly good for FEL work, but I think it does more harm than good for traction on wet ground. Instead of getting stuck on top of the ground, I get stuck down to the axles. Same result, just a bigger mess to patch up.
