They weren't harvested with my bow, but I'll post them anyway. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I saw this doe, her twin fawns, and a 4-point yearling buck last Saturday morning while I was bow hunting. They stayed out of bow range and I never got a shot. Gun season opened in Alabama today, so I went back to the same stand with my 7mm-08. Hadn't been there 20 minutes when they come back up the hardwood hollow. The doe is the largest I've ever taken around here. She weighed 130 lbs. and, from her jawbone, I aged her at 2.5 years. Most of our 2.5 year old does are in the 110-115 lbs. range. She had lots of fat on her. I also harvested the doe fawn that was with her. The buck fawn ran off, and I assume he'll start tagging along with the 4-point I saw with them last Saturday.

After dropping them, I went to the house and got my Mahindra 2615 4WD. It is so nice having a 4WD tractor with a loader that is small enough to navigate through some fairly thick oak woods. Before I got the tractor, I would have been dragging this 130 lb. deer up and over the hill for about 300 yards to get it to the nearest point I could drive my truck. Then, I would have had to go back and carry/drag the 42 pounder 300 yards. I've never owned an ATV, but have considered one every time I find myself dragging deer out. The tractor worked nicely. Both deer fit in the loader and I saved a lot of strain on my back. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

There. See I made my post tractor related. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Here's a picture of the deer:

I only hunt with gun, don't bow hunt but my son does. He got a nice 6 pt. yesterday but with a shotgun, not a bow. Shown hanging from my portable skinning machine.

I missed a 130 class 8pt opening morning (my fault completely as I rushed the shot) but anyway this one was posted on the Ag talk board, it was listed at 39 points. I don't know if they are legal points or if whoever counted them counted every bump as a point but it is still impressive. Big Buck
