Does anyone have an idea on how to bend back a box blade that is racked out of square about 2 inches? It is a Atlas 5ft blade that I just bought $150 and is only a few years old. Other than being slightly bent in good shape with newish paint:) After I get it back to square I plan on adding a few more pounds of steel to make the heavy duty a true heavy duty. Atlas's idea of HD is not the same as mine:confused:

Ok- the results of almost pulling a tree up:confused2: I chained the box blade corner to a tree and took the winch on the truck and pulled it almost back to square. Then cut the lower arm off and did the heat and beat back straight, well almost. I welded some channel iron I had to add strength. Even thu channel has drilled holes in it, its pretty heavy. Its like the lumber racks at Lowes or Home D. Then braced the corners. The corner braces are the only thing that I fell like might come off after I see how they affect the dirt as it fills up while I am using it. The last picture shows the plate stell on the side is still alittle off:mad:

I did the same thing to my 7 foot BB and added the metal to the same places. I though you had taken pics of my blade at first. I havent bent the BB after adding the extra steel. Good job.

Nice Welds! You use a stick or MIG? Mine usually look like I held the stick about three feet over the piece and dripped some slag down.

When I first started welding my buddy would say my welding looked like goose poo by candle light. I have gotten a little better.

Thanks- started years ago with a AC welder on 1in square tubing making deer stands- wow that will teach you how to burn holes real quick. I have a MIG now and use it on almost everything. Only break the stick out when I cant get to the joint with the mig gun or its to rusty and I dont want to grind it.

Not really, but it is a real load when full. Only time I have a problem is with sticking, if it is clay type of soil and its rally not the side brackets its the clay being a little damp. I brought my side brackets up to the box tune that holds the rippers. But I think yours will do just fine. My 7 footer is on an L4400 HST.

I've had my Atlas boxblade for about 10 years now, I have really been rough on it but it still works !! This is the heavy angle iron I put on for a little more weight - it's bolted and welded on and is 3/8" thick and the smaller piece of angle with the ball mounted to it - very, very handy as I keep the boxblade on all the time I'm not using another implement and is nice when I need to grab the trailer for something real quick. I also changed the trailer electrical socket to a 7 pin on the tractor so I have lights if I need to get on the road with it.

Good to know I will find out this weekend. We are having 12 tons of gravel dumped on our hunting road camping area. I was quick to say I will spread it:thumbsup: it just seat time right. Besides I only have 30hrs on this new thing and I love using it. The old 1710 ford I used had a STEEL seat:ashamed: so now I feel like I am seating in heaven:thumbsup:

That BB looks like it has held up well.

I always enjoy welding. I like being able to fix the thing I break or to make them stronger. What do you cut your metal with?

One of these days I am going to break down and buy a plasma cutter but for now I have an OXY/acet set up and I do most of my cutting with a cold saw.
