- 2015 John Deere 5115M, 1928 and 1945 hand start John Deere D's,
We were a little pressed for time and being the middle of winter, when we went looking for 96" box blades to assist with the snow clearing up here, we could only find a light Cat 1. We grabbed it b/c it was cheap, and it worked, but the pins on it were so low, any little dips of the tractor tires would lift the blade off the ground as the lower arms would not go any lower. I had some scrap steel laying around, so I welded 4" plates and mounted Cat 2 pins 3" higher than the orig Cat 1 pins. I then just moved the whole 3pth bracket up. I left the Cat 1 pins still in place should it ever be borrowed by a relative. I braced the flat plate with a heavy 1.5" square tubing. Works great now, doesn't lift off even when going over a steep approach.
