I know the box blade issue has been discussed quite thoroughly on this site and I think I've read almost every post. very good info indeed. Now I need one and want to match a blade to my 2210. I want to do driveway upkeep and light scraping.... a few high spots around the yard and ballast for the FEL. I know a 48" box scraper is the one but can anyone chime in with some suggestions matched to the 2210 or one of the similar models. It seems as the 48" blades fall outside of the realm of normal when reading through manufacturer specs. I want a blade heavy enough to do the job and well built to provide years of service. I don't mind paying for quality. The manufacturers that seem to be available around my area are Land Pride, Frontier, Woods, and KK. There's probably more I haven't run into yet.

I'm ready to pull the trigger on something but need some reassurance that whatever I get will work well with my 2210.

Thanks,
Eric

I'm also in the market, and will probably get the Frontier BB1048L. I've come to realize that the 'L' is for a lower height attachment - these allow more lift on the Limited Category 1 3pt that is on our machines.

After pulling a larger 6ft. rear blade with my 2305, I notice a difference with the clearance on the standard Cat 1 attachments; it's harder to get them high enough. I'm on a hill and have lots of grades, so the high is an issue. I plan to sell my 6ft rear blade and buy a 5ft 'L' for that as well.

I've got a Land Pride 54" for my 2520 that appears to be build very well. I haven't logged many hours on it yet, but have only heard good things on LP.

I just found this thread that I missed somehow which addresses my question to a degree: link

It seems as though most are going with the full Cat1 48" blades and they work fine. My terrain is flat so lift height isn't a real concern. I wonder what the actual difference in clearance is?

Thanks,
Eric

I have a Frontier BB1048 (made by Woods) on my 2210. The implement is heavy duty and made well. It is not too heavy and the 2210 handles it with no problems. I also use it as rear ballast with the FEL. According to John Deere's specs, it weighs 428lbs, a good bit more that the BB1048L (285lbs).

One more thought...
I am not sure of the rear clearance, but I have never had a problem, even when driving the tractor up a trailer ramp.

I recently bought the Woods GBC48 and am very pleased. The construction of it seems top notch and the performance is equally impressive. I know weight is a big issue when it comes to BB, and this subcompact implement is no exception. However, once you learn how to use it properly life is a lot easier. Another thing to think of is lifting the BB when it's full of dirt in order to empty it. Again, no problem with the GBC48.
My 2210 pulls it full of dirt without breaking a sweat. I just ripped up a 1/2 acre plot and leveled the high spots out in about a day. I first shortened the top link and dropped the tines to rip up the sod, then scraped it with the FEL. There is PLENTY of depth when the tines are dropped all the way! I pulled up some impressive rocks without the 2210 grunting. I think you'll be pleased the way the GBC48 matches to the 2210. It can do some impressive work, even backblading like a mini-bulldozer!

Well funny you should mention the Woods. I almost bought a Woods GB48 yesterday slightly used for $550. They also had new GBC48's on the lot but I didn't get a price. I got to look at both side by side and the GB48 is a beast compared to my 2210. That's the only reason I didn't get it. It has a larger box and can carry more stuff compared to the GBC48.

My other choice at the moment is a new but slightly rusted from sitting LandPride 1548 for $550.

Decisions, decisions.

Thanks,
Eric

I almost pulled the trigger on a full size BB (between Kioti and Bush Hog) when I stopped by a local dealer that's always been good to me. I explained what I was looking for and he said he had the GBC48 in his lot that was originally supposed to have been sold as part of a package deal w/a tractor, but backed out at the last minute. He sold me the GBC48 for $499, which originally he had for about $680. The GB48 was about $840, I think he said. Compared to a lot of pricing guys talk about here it seems steep. I went to another dealer and they quoted the GBC48 for $640 and the GB48 for about $860.
In the end I'm happy with my pruchase. Now I need to talk the wife into a tiller ... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
