What would be the best size box blade for a Yanmar 2000?

Primary use will be for gravel driveway maintenance.

Whatever size I buy, it will be the heaviest duty I can find. I guess my main question is; Would a heavy duty 5' box blade be too heavy for this size tractor or should I get a 4'? I absolutely hate 'popping wheelies.'

Thanks!

Seems to me that the wheelies are related to how much drag the box causes and any size box would cause about the same drag, depending on how you use it.

A 5 ft box works fine on my YM240 (US version of YM2000). There's a photo here attached at the top of a recent thread. On mine the loader provides front weight. You would probably need front bumper weights to get any work done.

Attached is the setup I use on my YM2000B. It's a 5' A.T.L.A.S., a 4' won't cover the tire tracks with the rear wheels inverted, and 200# of suitcase weights on the front bumper. Works out really well for me. Without the weights it would sometimes catch a wheelie if it caught a root, but no more.

Ok, guys, thanks.
From what you have said, I think I'll get a 5 footer. I just didnt want to get one too big and be stuck with it. Thanks for the info.

Are you sure you want a boxblade for driveway (gravel) work? I have both a boxblade and grading blade. When installing the driveway originally, it was nice to spread the gravel around with the boxblade. I finished it up with the grader blade. Now to even things up I use the grader blade exclusively and the boxblade for landscaping. A professional excavator told me it would have been better to use the just the grader blade. My .02.

Hey Todd,
Here's a couple of good links for you regarding gravel road mantainance. This one is another thread on TBN about using scraper blades vs. boxblades vs. rakes. Scraper Blade

This one is to another site that tells all about mantaining them, grading, ditching etc. Gravel Roads

If you go to the main index, and go through all the posts in the "Attachments" section, and the "Projects" section you can find a lot of good info. Also, you might try doing a search for "scraper blade" or "box blade" to shorten the lists to search through.

TBN is a great site for help with any tractor or rural living related question you would possibly need help with. Most of the guys on here know their stuff! Glad you finally signed up on it!
