Just bought a old Gannon Rollover box blade to put on my L48. I purchased the L48 with a backhoe attached and as it turns out the 3 pt hitch was never used by the previous owner(s) so a learning curve to detach the backhoe and attach the 3 pt hitch and box blade was involved. Anyway, my son and I got it done. Much to my surprise the box raises and lowers very slowly, even after adjusting the lowering speed knob under the drivers seat. The up down position control lever is very tight and difficult to move. On to my questions. Is the up down position control lever supposed to be stiff? Are there any lubrication points that need attention? ?.OR... do I have the top link, lift rods etc. out of adjustment?
IMG_0656web.jpgIs there a formula for the 3 pt setup? I've attached 2 iIMG_0658web.jpgmages, One with the box down and one with the box up.

I would rework the 3ph for starters. Is the blade tweaked in the middle?

You might check to see that the linkage on the three point control valve is not bent. A slight bend might cause the valve to work incorrectly.

Are the ends of your lifting arms jammed against cross piece of the box blade. From the photo it looks like the ends of the arms are hitting the box blade brace that runs across the attachment. Specifically it looks like they are hitting the piece of angle iron welded on the brace.

I think you've got the blade hooked up just fine. I'm wondering if the speed control isn't goofed up. I mean, the three point should lift pretty good even at idle. I'd pop into the Kubota forum and throw out the question about your speed control knob binding.

Moving the leveling links further along the lower links can change the speed and also the height of the attachment. They look to be as far inboard as possible in the picture.

That plastic knob attaches to a shaft that goes to the adjuster on the front of the transmission. If it's been sitting unused for years on end, the adjuster is likely locked up and won't turn easily. Could be the plastic knob is spinning on the shaft without actually turning the adjuster. Same thing happened on my tractor recently and it took some PB Blaster and channel locks on the shaft to free up the adjuster.

Thanks to all.......

Answers to questions:
The blade is tweaked/bent but for my purposes it will work fine.

The 3pt has never been used so the linkage on the three point control valve should be ok.

No, the ends of the lifting arms aren't jammed against cross piece of the box blade but they are very close. I may grind the ends a bit to give it more wiggle room.

Moving the leveling links further along the lower links can change the speed and also the height of the attachment. Yes, I had the pins in the lowest position and moved them to see if it worked better. It doesn't so I'll put it back to get higher lift.

Could be the plastic knob is spinning on the shaft without actually turning the adjuster. ..Good suggestion, I'll check it out.
