Hi all,

I recently removed my snowblower for the first time and now when using the loader the back end comes up very easy. So I'm in the market to get something heavy back there. I'm looking at 72 inch box blades from either Landpride, Woods or MK Martin. Martin is the least expensive but also the lightest. The woods and landpride units are pretty close as far as weight and price go. One other thing i've been considering is the 3ph dump box MK Martin offers. I think this would be pretty useful for me and have been leaning towards it but I wish i could find some others experiences with it.

so if anyone has any advice or have owned any of these I'd appreciate your thoughts.

I own two LP box scrapers and like both, good quality implements, but so are Woods, Rhino etc. and lots of people like the roll over box scraper like this: Dirt Dog Manufacturing

I have no need for a dump box so have no experience with them sorry.

TripleR beat me to it, but the roll over box blades(ROBB) are really a nice implement. I typically recommend Eagleline because they are a bit heavier than the Dirt Dog or Bush Hog units. But all of them are good, fairly heavy and should hold up well. It's nice to have the rippers down with just a single pull on the handle vs having to stop and put each ripper down separately.

A little more money, but you get what you pay for. ;)

Rollover Box Blades are the way to go if you do not have rear hydraulic ports.

Mine is a Bush Hog, RO-600, 630 pounds, imported from India.

No Canadians with MK Martin stuff eh?

I'll have to watch a video of the rollovers, I'm not sure I understand.

Besides being relatively heavy duty, once the top link is set, there is no need to set it again as is needed with standard box blades. You also get all the different working positions without ever getting off of the tractor. ALL of this with no aux hydraulics.

ROBBs have three operating positions, yielding four results, I know of: PULL TO TRANSPORT DIRT, PUSH TO FILL - WITH CAUTION, PULL TO SMOOTH AND RIPPERS.

Operating positions are changed by raising the ROBB with 3-Pt, then pulling the big lever. ROBB flops by gravity to change positions.

I know there is one more operation. Let me think………………

I know, I know; don't tell me………….

3 positions, 5 different operations. Don't forget smoothing operations where you are using the back side of the cutting edge. ;)

We'll get him talked into a ROBB yet.

We bought a new Landpride matched box blade with the L3800 purchase and bent it... nothing out of the ordinary... dealer said it was a new model and offered to credit the full price paid to the heavier duty version...

A roll over would have been nice... just not in the budget.

+1 on the Dirt Dog RO720. I have used mine many hard hours clearing very rocky, hard clay soil and the only damage is some bending on each of the outboard scarifiers when they were hooked and slid off the sides of buried mini boulders, with the other scarifiers firmly planted; normal wear and tear to me. It was my primary driveway building/grading attachment and is now a 720# counterweight for my tree clearing. Great piece of equipment.

At times I have wanted a heavier unit, as Mountain View mentioned, but this is the best bang-for-the-buck for my uses.
