for grading out uneven ground with back fill, maybe trail work, would a box blade or 7 foot rake, ( landscape long tines ) be better? does the box blade come with scarifies on it or are they extra

Box blade, and they do come with scarifiers. The rake is for fine tuning after the boxblade work.

I've never seen a box scrape or box blade without scarifiers. The scarifiers and rear "lip" work together to scrape hard pack ground.
I'd go with the box blade. I've got both, and use the rake (6ft bushhog brand) primarily for debris cleanup and light road touchup (very very light). The rake works well to clean up branches, rocks and sod. The box blade works well to level out holes and hills, put in ditches and move dirt short distances.

if You are looking to buy one or the other then for sure the BB is the one to have, not only for the particular job your doing but for having a general purpose tool, You will learn to use the Box blade in many ways, moving earth, leveling, pushing backward, back filling goes on-n-on,I even used mine at one time to break up the dirt for my garden spot by moving and bolting the scarfs to the edge of the Box and having them drop down 10" lower then the box ;) it did help to break up the red clay so that could get down to some softer soil and till,........... but the only thing I can think of using a rake for would be to rake :D There is one more tool that no one speaks much on,
I use one on all soil preps before putting out grass seed, ( The Pulverizer ) will move earth flatten the ground rake the rocks, roots, etc, and then roll and fluff out the topsoil and the pins from the roller leaves nice little crevices for the seed to bed into, ;)

look at the YOURK landscape rake. it has the forked tines and a fold doun blade, and fold down scarifiers. all on the same tool.

what size and price, 6 foot? $? kubota L4400 4x4x
Your rear track is at least 62", so you want something a bit wider than that. Next size up is five and a half feet. Six footers are more common though, I have one for my KM454 (4wd/R1 tires). But a 6' might bog down your 45hp if it's on R4 tires. Or did you opt for the R1 (ag) tires?

As far as price, it depends on what you're going to do with it. The heavier duty the implement, the heavier duty the price. I'd rate mine as medium duty, and think I paid ~$600 several years ago. It's probably half again that by now.

To get an idea of what you can do with a box blade, go to everythingattachments.com (and no, I am not affiliated with them - but I really like their videos). Go to the box blades for tractors and view the video. Here's a link: Tractor Box Blade - Box Scraper - HD Cat 1 and Deluxe HD Cat 2 Models The video is at the bottom of the page.

You can even dig ditches with them and put crowns on driveways/roads.

I have a Kubota L45 and I have a 6ft box blade on it. It is 45 horse power and I can take a full box of dirt heap over , up hill, sacrificer all the way digging in. In 4wd and never miss a beat. 6tf is fine no problem and could probably go with 7ft. My box blade weighs around 550lbs. I have R 4's on my tractor

Hi..

I have an L3400 with an LA463, loaded rears (ags) and a 5ft box and I use it extensively for road work and tons of other tasks...

On occasion I have stopped it dead with hard pack, and other ground "calamities"... Pulling up hill with a full box in low gear, and an empty bucket.

So YMMV....

A 7ft, if you can afford it, should be fine-- based on the type of dirt you have and the terrain-- Hills, flat etc....

Later,
J
