Box Scraper Box Blade Prices...WTH?

OK, i have been looking on places like craigslist for box blades. I have seen several regular 6' box blades for 500 and 600 bucks. The 600 dollar one is a HOWSE, which i know isnt anything special.

Thats great...except that i can buy a brand new one at tractor supply (KING KUTTER) for 400 with a 50 dollar off coupon.

Went to an auction recently with several used (but excellent condition) bobcat skidsteer attachments. This auction also had internet buyers. One of the pieces of equipment was advertised as a bobcat blade. It wasn't even a bobcat blade but was a quick-way blade in almost the same bobcat color. It also wasn't a dozer blade but instead a snow blade. The auctioneers also implied that it was a dozer blade and could be used to move dirt. The price of a dozer blade is about 3x more than a snow blade. This blade was bought by an internet buyer for almost $3,900. Twice the price of a new bobcat snow blade. Some smuck bought what he thought was a bobcat dozer blade for a good deal. What happens when they actually see the equipment and pick it up or yet have it shipped to them?

I agree price vary widely. For 300 to 600 you get a light weight light duty box blade. I bought my medium/heavy duty 8 foot LandPride for about $1400 20 years ago.

I bought an off brand box blade, green in color, at a auction last year. It is 5' and I spend $110.00. It is missing one tooth. But I thinK I can find a new tooth.

I can purchase a BRAND NEW MEDIUM DUTY box blade, 6', hinged rear blade from my local tractor shop for 650 bucks...out the door.

Id like one alittle cheaper though.
