I am looking to purchase a 6ft box blade. It will be used mainly for leveling 1.3 miles of horse trails that have been bushed hogged. There are some small stumps.
I have a l4240 Kubota . It will be rarely used after leveling the trails. How heavy duty do you think I will need. I am going to take it slow and easy.

Thanks,

I'd look at the king kutter box blade if you are on a tight budget. Also check out landpride and woods if you wanna spend a little more.

The used market is great for box blades. My king kutter 72" was used. Painted it and has been great. I have used it a lot too behind my L3830. Works very well.

I would stick with a medium duty box blade if your tractor can handle it. If that's too much weight for your tractor, then you have your answer.

I started out using light duty implements and was a frequent customer of the local welding shop :( I haven't had that problem since I moved up to the medium duty rated stuff.

Landpride and Woods are good. Also, I have a Bush Box box blade, it's well made.

Take a look at Everything Attachments where they have quite a selection of what looks like quality build at a decent price. I just bought one and am waiting on delivery pretty soon. Cheers, Mike

I bought an LMC box blade Lowery Manufacturing, Inc. -LMC Farm Equipment if they have these around your area I would look into them. They are pretty HD as far as I am concerned, they are not as heavy as some but they are not light and they do not cost as much as even TSC units.

Go used. They are cheaper and nothing can happen to a BB that you can't see on inspection. I've done well. I also advocate for sometime or ordinary road leveling, go with a medium duty or even light. You won't be using it much, and the only danger to it will be the occasional stump. I suggest you go get those stumps out first, the BB away.

Exactly!

I'd also recommend getting a used one off Craig's List or something. They're on there all the time around here and it's where I got mine. No need to pay new prices for something like that, especially with something you won't use that much.
