box blade to remove debris?

i'm clearing out some food plots and there is a decent amount of stumps, branches, logs, sticks, rotted and otherwise. i'd rather not buy a new landscape rake if i didn't have to. has anyone had any luck using a box blade to do this work? i am wondering if i can set it to not really 'dig in' per se, and have it grab the debris.

u could set your top link so that it only goes down a few inches on the box blade you might have to pick up some stuff by hand just my 2 cent

We, my dad, son and me, cleared a LOT of stuff with our Ford NAA and his 600 when working on our woods, amazing how much stuff you can drag with those things. Now we may not have been using them right, but they sure worked well.

It is probably not going to work very well as compared to a landscape rake. You might try dropping your scarifiers all the way down then adjusting your level control so it just lets the scarifiers engauge the ground. This may pickup some of the course stuff. After that I would probably try raising the scarifiers back up and tilting the box all the way back and make some runs.

I have a Taylor-Way 4500 series BB-72 inches. I have used it to clear debris before. I would gather the debris into piles and then use my FEL to haul the debris to the burn pile. In regards to the "decent amount of stumps", depending on the size of the stumps and your tractor's HP you may have some difficulty when the scarifiers contact with the stumps. Just a thought?

There is another thread on TBN somewhere that asks the exact same question. My idea was to use the rippers on the box scraper like a heavy-duty rake. I'll try to find the thread.

You can try combing with the boxblade scarifiers for the small stuff. The larger stuff is best loaded by hand in the bucket, sometimes you have to get off the tractor because it is more efficient.
