What's your experience with using a box blade to cut weeds off at ground level? Does it dig up a lot of dirt? I think by just using the blade without the teeth it should work pretty good. Any thoughts?

mechanic, I have done a great deal of this very thing, mainly because I have a 4 acre section by my house that I 'clear cut' two years ago and am not trying to clean it up. I pulled the box blade at idle speed along the perimeter in order to ''blaze a trail'' for breaking with the disc harrow.

The box blade, without the scarcifiers, and engaged at slightly below grade removed all the vegestation and small saplings and would occassionally catch a stump. When that happened, I just backed up and found a route around the stump. My end goal is to cut a fire lane and then burn the whole thing off.

The box blade working exceptionally well for that purpose.

Like Herd said , it works well on fairlly level ground . It just takes getting the right adjustment on the upper link so it wont dig in to deep .

I used mine for this very reason last night & after I got it set right it worked quite well . Just made a couple of big piles of weeds that I scraped off & hauled them to the burn pile . :D . Bob

Get your tractor wheels and box blade on a level concrete or ashphalt, and level the blade side to side and then use the top link, as previously stated, to get the front blade a little lower than than the rear blade. Once you get into the field, you can fine tune the top link to get the cut action you want. Hope this helps.
