I used my neighbors box blade this week-end and found that I could really use one of them. I was amazed at what I could do with it. My neighbors is a 6 foot and two of the knife slots were ripped right out of the 4 x 4 frame. I am sure someone used it with too large of a tractor and hit a large rock and just ripped the slots right out.

So this brings up a concern when buying. Who makes the best box blade as I have large rocks in my area and I would rather see the tractor come to a stop before ripping out the teeth?

Midwest makes 3 models, I don't think you'll tear up the mid and heavy duty models of those.

Murph the last time that I checked Corriher's had some pretty good pricing on a box-blade.

If I was to use a box blade on my road do you turn the forks out or into the box blade?

You mean the shanks? The ripper shanks should be set so the pointy end hits the ground and tears it up allowing the box to scrape it up easier. Weight is your friend, it allows the box to dig in and pick up material instead of bounce along.

Murph, I have had great success with my Gearmore Box Scraper. Very heavy, no problems with the teeth and I regularly pull it with a full bucket in FWD until the wheels spin.

I just raise it out of the ground and start again.

Heavy duty or industrial grade would be good choices.
Gannon or Cammond. They are heavy.
I'm sure there are others that will fit what you need.

Murph, I've got a 'Bush Hog' brand "MBX" which I think is heavy duty...I'll try to attach a picture....its got 1/2" sides & 3 plates that secure the pins at the bottom 2 points.

Hey all

I just found a thread that gives a price run down. No need to post any answers on prices of box blades; enough info next page.

Cheers...Coffeeman

Thanks for the help. Its just hard to see how it could help to flatten out the road. But I guess once I use it my understanding will change.
