Has anyone got any plans or have made a box blade? Seems like I could make one cheaper and better than the ones I've seen.

I've seen some plans online, but not sure where. Can you just take a camera and tape measure to a TSC after hours? Or shoot a neighbors?

I thought about doing that, but by the time you figure the iron, buying a cutting edge, electricity, and your time, I'm not sure you will save anything.

I paid about $250 for my 5ft box blade a coupla yrs ago.

Real easy to do.Took me about four hours. The hardest part was getting the curve to the blade.I ended up putting a floor jack on the plate and wrapping a chain around it.Built it outta stuff I had laying around or found.
I was running my route and was thinking about the box blade.I thought.."God...it'd sure be nice to find the steel for the blade somewhere to day.." Danged if but twenty minutes later..there in the road ( causing a traffic hazard ) were two plates of 3/8 X 20 X 30 inch plate, cut from a water tank that fell off a scrap truck!!

Mind you, this ain't pretty...ain't finished and maybe never will be,but it works!! The wings will eventually be hinged to swing to the rear for use as a straight blade.

LOL, that has happened to me also, but then I'm hawkeyed.
Once driving @ about 30-40mph or so I jammed on the brakes as I spotted a 3/8 ratchet and a couple of sockets on the roadside. Wife thought I was nuts! (now she knows it)

A few weeks back I found 8 sheets of aeromatic closet liner on side road scattered sheet by sheet over about a mile.
Must have just peeled off of sheet by sheet from a delivery truck driven by a driver too lazy to pick them up, or he decided that they were now damaged goods undeliverable.
(they were perfect)

I took a 24" X 60" 1/8" plate to our local shop that had an 8' hydraulic brake.
They made neat folds every inch and created a blade for me.
Cost was $35.00.
Included was trimming my plate 'square' as the edges were kinda ragged.
Can't beat that!

If you mean mine...
It started life out as a rear blade and when I get round to finishing the wings,it will be again..back and forth as I please. Not shown is the way I made it tilt...That comes in REAL handy when cuttin' swales!!
As far as dimensions....LOL!!
I don't even know if I own a measurin' stick..Really all you need to do is make it a cloupla inches wider than your tractor...I'm not sure how wide the tractor is either...6 feets??
Here's a shot of the time I got her gaught up in a pile of manure I was spreading...

Those are indeed from a 6 X 6!!
Fella sold me the pair on wheels for $40.
The bar chains are just some 1/2 x 1 bar, bent and welded to 3/16 chain.
