Folks,
I saw this in another thread...
http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/...ew-box-blade-followed-me-box-blade-repair.jpg

I really like the way he did that ball mount...

now I have 5x8 utility trailer and often I need to move it around...
in the past I have just lifted it with the bucket and hooked the chains to the top lip and moved on...
Well in my last rush, I cut the wires and then it bent the hook on one of the chains...

But I admit it was totally my fault..
I was in a hurry and should not have done it..

so after seeing the thread pic above--
thanks John for the great idea!!
http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/members/johninct.html

My options are this:
Pintle Hook with 2" Ball

or on the top lip of the box:
ATV Hitch Adapter

of course I understand the issues of weight behind the lift arms and all that.. but we are talking about a trailer that on flat ground I can pickup the tongue and roll by hand....

So what do you think about the pintle hook idea?

the pintle hitch does sound like a good idea but if you can pick up the tongue by hand, why couldnt you just put a trailer ball on your draw bar? Unless you keep the boxblade on all the time, this may work a little better. Just IMO.

the boxblade is almost always on... well except for the winter.. and then the scrape...

problem is when I need to move it.. it is too far to move by hand....

well, if you use a pintle hitch, just take some box tubing, cut to length of end of hitch, and weld it to a plate of steel. Drill 4 holes in both the corners of the steel and in the area that you will put it on the boxblade. Then you can easily remove it when needed and simply bolt it on for use. Like my gauge wheels on my grading blade.

yeah BUT that extends the end of the fulcrum point farther back from the box and even 2 inches could be bad...
I think bolting it directly to the box blade would be good enough....

I don't want to weld anything to it...
if I can help it...
I have a cheap box and that metal just did not take well to welding..

J

what if you just drill two holes and bolt it on? and maybe for added strength, cut two triangles and weld them under that lip for better strength.
