Looking for a box scraper wondering what are the better brands/ Usually you get what you pay for/ I assume more weight the better to balence the FEL and stronger. I have the 60 inch bucket so I assume a 60 inch scraper would be fine. Thanks Larry

walk4rams:

I went with Woods. It was the heaviest and surprisingly the cheapest of the 60" boxblades I looked at in my area. The other brands with which I was interested included Land Pride (BB25 series), Bush Hog, and Befco. I only looked at the heavier 60" models with solid welds, reinforced stress areas, good paint, 3/8" side panels, easily adjustable scarifiers, and captured lower pin/double strap link connections. Dropping suitcase weights on it makes a world of difference. I use mine so I can place them as needed. Putting them on one side only and tilting the boxblade makes a great road edge ditch digger.

Concrete blocks will do the same once you tie them down. I spent the money for the easily removeable suitcase weights so I can take them on/off in seconds without tools.

HI again. my New Holland Dealer carries some blue 60 inch Bush Hog Box scrapers for about $ 675.00. He said they have had good results with their product, seem reasonable. Thanks again

Two days ago my TC30 with FEL and Bush Hog SBX 60 box blade (yellow) was delivered. Got the box blade to counterbalance the FEL and maintain gravel roads. Perhaps I should have gotten a simple blade that rotates to allow spill from blade. We'll see. Anxious to see how scarifiers work.

My dealer had a cheaper box blade, but it was lighter guage metal and had less frame bracing. My box blade was $600.

Be Safe! Chuck

I bought the Midwest BB20 60" box. Nice and heavy.
