box scraper

How big of a box scraper can a L3400 HST handle. I am using a 7 foot scraper right now and was woundering if a 6 footer would be to big?

Ideally you want the BB to cover the width of your tracks. I would think that a full 6 foot box would be a bit much for a L3400 to pull. I would go with a 5 footer. What brand are you considering?

I was thinking of a woods i think they are good quality.
the 7 foot is a blade that i run on an angle and i think a box blade will dig into the ground unlike the blade that stays on top of the ground::confused2:unless i am wrong?

I have a 6' on my L2800 and don't have any problems... I would not want it sticking out any farther then the 6" I have. If your blade is not digging in, it's either not heavy enough or the top link is too short or the cutting blade is worn out.

Woods makes some good equipment. The weight of the box will cause it to sink down better than a blade. The box blade rippers would pull the box into the soil in the harder stuff. What kind of soil are you working with?

Have you tried making adjustments to your top link?..As a rule most 3ph blades are meant to lean forward or backward...the more forward the top link is set the more the blade will cut into the ground moving forward and vice-versa... scrape blade, box blade work the same for "cutting" or smoothing lean in to cut...lean back to smooth...

l2800 here and i use a 6' box blade with additional weight on it and never had any problems with a full load, 3400 should handle it easily

I would suggest reading your owners manual, it will have both a maximum weight and maximum length recommendation.

B2710 with a six foot box blade not even phased a bit when filled with stones on our 1500 lane (in Med gear).:thumbsup:

my l3400 pulls my 6 foot land pride box blade easily. even uphill with a full box. I usually run the scarifier teeth about 2 inches lower than the blade.
