I am going to buy a 6' or 7' boxblade. I have a NH TN75 tractor, 72 HP at the engine. Rural King in my area has a 6 footer for $299. Obviously this is a light duty cheapo. Will I be making a mistake by buying it? I won't be doing much heavy duty work but am leary of something this cheap. What are your opinions?

A few post down there is a post called "Boxblade(how big)" It addresses what you are wanting to know. But I will tell you this, a cheap box blade will not hold up behind a TN if you snag something. You will want to get something rated for you hp because if you bend it up then you won't get any warranty help if you are overpowered. Even being careful, if you snag something with a light duty box with a TN even crawling you won't notice it until its too late.

I talked to a friend of mine who bought a six footer from a fleet store. He pulled it behind a two wheel drive 60 hp. row crop tractor. His main purpose was to move dirt for his new house and some light grader work.He told me he bent it the first week he had it.Now it seems to bend all the time.Find a cheap heavy duty let me know.
Good luck Rex

Are those 6' blades cat 1? I think I'd find a native cat 2 blade for that bigger machine..

Hey Soundguy
I did more research on box blades.Your advice on cat. 2 seems to be right on!! I notice a big weight different on the cat. 2 boxblade which would seem favorable.I looked at a used cat.1 boxblade off a 60 hp. tractor a few days ago.The lift pin brackets were all bent, just like the last box blade I looked at.
Thanks Rex

Check auction listings near you for Gannon. County, state hwy maint auctions have them quite often. They're a bit spendy new. May have to replace wear edge or teeth, but you'll have a serious BB when done.

Since you're in Tenn, check out Corriher's in NC. I got my 7' from them. Look at the "30" series box blade. Clevis Cat 1 or 2 hook ups and 1/2" sideplates with a bunch of scarifers. Shipping should be reasonable. I've done a whole lot of stuff with mine that would twist a weaker duty/standard duty unit into a pretzel. It's holding up great and they are good people to deal with. Hi Bob in VA
Looked at Corriher's web site and couldn't find "30" series box blade.
Thanks Rex
