I just installed my Monroe Tufline BoxBlade scraper model #TB160. It is 5' wide, weighs 483#'s has a 14.17cu' cap. and is rated for use between 20-40HP. Beyond that I'm basically somewhat clueless. Here's what I'd like to find out. For the top link there are 3 holes on the boxblade and three on the tractor's rear end bracket. Which would be best to start out grading my drives; basic dirt and gravel mix, really well compacted and somewhat rutted/crowned too?
I know you guys hold the answer to how best to operate this piece of equipment. So, I'm asking you to spill the beans:D
I'm counting on the TBN 'clan'.:D

Any boxblade operating manual references would be helpful too, assuming they exist?!

TIA,

CM

I use my box blade a lot. I only have one position(hole) on the box blade but have 3 on the tractor. I use the hole on the tractor that has the most metal. My fear is breaking the tractor top link connector. I have tried other positions of the top link on the tractor but didn't notice a major difference. Check you top link for length. I have a number of them all within an inch of two in length but find some times if I put the shorter one on I run out of adjustment(not long enough) to angle back the blade.

I have probably done over a mile or two of driveway levelling for friends. The box blade is an amazing tool. I only used it with the teeth down twice. Both times to rip up a potholed lane to relay gravel... worked great. Also check out All About Attachments Video Library

I would leave the crown for rain runoff... If it imperfectly level you will have problems with water and pothole creation.

Good luck.

Unless you are using the draft control keep the top link in the top hole on the tractor. I know some have used draft with a box blade but it is usually used for plows and tillers.

OK. Top hole for top link on tractor. What is the recommended hole on the BB for the top link to attach to? Or does it not matter as much at where the top link attaches to the tractor?
I've only used the position control, not draft, to move the BB up and down.

Hey Lloyd,
I took a look at the BB video. Thanks!
I'll put the crown back after I get the drives angled the way they ought to be...right now the drives need some work getting them into shape after two years of heavy equipment and last winter's pounding:(
