BP to Goose Neck?

I get what you are saying but I was just saying if he wants a gooseneck this would likely be his cheapest route. Goosenecks cost more than bumper pull to begin with. If he goes to a dealer they will give him wholesale trade in on his trailer and sell him a gooseneck at full retail. He would be lucky to find a trade for twice that $1500. He could sell his trailer privately and then buy a gooseneck but that is always a hassle and then he has to pay full sales tax on the new trailer. Bottom line is getting rid of his trailer and buying a gooseneck would almost certainly cost him a lot more than the $1500 to convert. I agree the axle geometry would likely be better on a factory made gooseneck but then again adding a gooseneck to an existing trailer will make the hitch farther forward then it was originally.

The $1500 sounds about right. The only thing that seems odd to me is his interest in doing it if he's building and selling 150 trailers/month.

I'm thinking that he didn't really think it all the way through when giving you the $700 number. It's either that, or he doesn't want to do it now and is trying to bid himself out of the job. The latter is a common practice for jobs that aren't worthwhile, and you want to say no but don't want to hurt your chances on future bids. In the off chance you get the job anyways, at least you get overpaid for the work.
