Why not a factor Ford unit on 05 and new Fords. Ten times better than any aftermarket ones.

Then a pressure driven system is the best. For a simple basic unit the P3 is tough to beat.

apparently they are not available on all models. I bought a 2014 E350 ( Yup, E not F , wife wanted a big 'wagon' ).

Dealer told me the ford factory controller was not available on that model. .. Too bad cause I wanted it too....

I figured out my problem. My dealer should have mentioned it when he checked it out. Seems the lock on the connector plug is not locking good and it backs out, losing the connection. I can reach it while driving and push it back in. Then all is fine.
