I just got my dozer home finally and started going over it. The right master cylinder for the right brake is empty. I was going to put fluid in it and noticed stamping on the cap that said "Use mineral spirits" on one end and "hydraulic oil only" on the other end of the cap. What does this mean?

My case backhoe of around the same vintage uses either hydraulic oil
or dextron trans fluid (both work) in the brake masters. Call the dealer to find out what to get.

Thanks for the link, J_J. I already knew that in the back of my mind, but you helped correct my verbage. The cap says "use mineral OIL hydraulic fluid only" as opposed to water based. Now it makes sense! No wonder why the people at NAPA looked at me like I had a horn growing out of my head when I asked for mineral SPIRIT hyd oil...

I drained both reservoirs and flushed the lines. Refilled with a light weight hyd oil and all is fine now.

Some of the Case equipment uses Hytrans, or ATF. My skidsteer uses 10 w-40, and a qt of Case additive.
