I read a post a few weeks ago about someone driving around with the parking brake on. I thought this was odd..seemed had to do right...wrong. Count me in! Darn, I've done this 4 time already, luckily I've caught it relativly quick each time. Good news is I've found my solution... I looked under the tractor tonight..I think I can mount a switch and add a parking brake light to my dash real easy. I'm sure this is much cheaper than the alternative!

Let us know how you mounted the brake light switch. I had a problem with the parking brake in the beginning, but have made an effort to check it before I start moving. and I put a 2X4 in the storrage unit where I keep the tractor that I drive over and then don't set the brake.
I don't seem to have a problem when I set the brake in the open, guess I'm awake then.

Well...I just finished installing my brake light switch. It works great. I used a piecce of 1" angle iron, drill a 1/2 inch hole for the switch, and two small holes opposite for mounting the brackect to the machine. I used a momentary on normally open bat toggle switch. I drilled a small hole in the end of the switch, mounted the bracket to the tractor, then the sw to the bracket. To actuate the switch I used a spring, put one end through the end of the switch ( hence the small hole I drilled) and put the other end on the brake arm; on the opposite side of the pedal return spring. Kubota nicely made the pin extra long with a hole in allready in place! I put a 1/2" 12v red light in the dash just below the throttle, and picked up the 12V from the ignition (key on-power on,key off power off) side of the headlights...this way the light will NOT stay on when the key is off. I'll try to get some pics to post...dont have a digital cam but my web cam works ok. Total cost...less than $20.00....total savings of not killing my tranny...thousands...Not having to tell my wife I killed my new tractor...priceless!

Ps.....total time ~4hrs start to finish.

Sounds GREAT – I’ll be anxious to see your pics and may try installing one on my Kubota also. One trick I’ve tried so I don’t forget the break is to engage it fully so I notice the extra drag from the parking break immediately rather that half an hour later.

Try engaging just one wheel brake, you should know real quick if the E brake is engaged.

And last here's the light "on"..as you can see it's nice and bright.

PS. Can't only set one brake on the bx.
