Brake steering?

Hi Dub u Dee, /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

[[[New Holland TC35D, TC40D, and TC45D certainly meet "farm tractor" status here in KY. OK, small farm tractor... All have standard, very useable turning/steering brake pedals on the LEFT and two seperate Hydrostat pedals on the right (forward & reverse).]]]

Assuming the pedal-arrangement you describe includes a "regular"(stopping) brake pedal on the right, the JDs are the same, ...no checking-to-be-sure the pedals are "locked-together" for normal braking.

[[[IMHO the issue is manufacturing $, additional parts/part #/stocking inventory... , to modify tractor models that are seldom used in the type of situations requiring brake steering.]]]

And IF this-is-so, it is an issue that is faced by ALL the mfgrs., ...the fact that they have chosen to deal with the issue differently is what this thread is all about /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif.

Re: Brake steering? ruffled feathers

Since my brand-specific comments about this issue seems to have ruffled a few feathers, I'd like to add a thought.

In my opinion(or at least my hope!) we are building better tractors for the future, right here at this site, with just these types of discussions. It seems inevitable that internet-savvy people in any related mfg. industry will. sooner-or-later, (if not already) tune-in to what is being said/desired/complained about equipment, ...by the users and potential-buyers. That's us.

"New-model" designers are (should be!) on their toes, trying to add features that customers will pay to have, and changing features that may "not-help" make-a-sale.

With an eye to "successful" features that are popular on orther makes, and an ear to what "new" things customers would like, a smart company has a chance to capture a fair-share of the market.

All the tractor brands have "strong-points", as has been said here many times before. And the other mfrs. soon hear about it from customers.
A case-in-point, of benefit to John deere customers like myself, is the offering BY NEW HOLLAND of adjustable links, which, at the time, WERE NOT AVAILABLE on the 4000 series JDs. (I'm not sure about Kubota).

A thread such as this one, with those links as the feature under discussion, could easily have resulted in the same sort of "why-don't-they-have-it", "do-you-really-need-it" discussion. (There IS a thread on the topic, but with a little different "tone".)

Anyway, the point is that JD NOW OFFERS THEM. And several list-members, myself included, have them on our tractors. THANK YOU NEW HOLLAND! (and thanks to DrDeere for some helpful tips /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif !

So, again, I think the frank pro-and-con, tell-it-like-it-looks-to-you "talks" that we have here, are the way to go.

And, speaking for myself (and many others, I know) no disrespect of anyone else's choice, or "putting-down" of anyone's rig is intended.

Speaking of the brands most-often discussed here, you can hardly go wrong, ...you can just go "different". /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Re: Brake steering? ruffled feathers

Well said Larry and I agree completely. If the tractor manufacturers aren't tuning into this forum they are missing out on a gold mine of free "voice of the customer" input.

Keep the passion /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
