your problem comes in when financing.. They have to produce a U.C.C. filing (WHICH) will go to Worcester county or whatever county you're in. Most times it is not worth trying to dodge the tax as in some way, someone will get it back, and possibly get it back in "spades"

Going back to the machine purchase: After careful consideration, I'd like to be able to go to my local MASS dealer and say "I'm paying your price and I expect to be taken care of if there are any issues with the machine". I wonder if some of the dealer complaints I hear about here on TBN are because the customer beat the dealer up so bad on price, the dealer doesn't offer the same level of service.....just a thought.

Go to Upper Valley and make a deal, buy it and enjoy. Maybe you'll be able to enjoy it for 2 years or so and then when you're in the slammer with a lot of other tractor buyers you can share stories /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif.

Always amazed at the knowledge on this site, be it tractor stuff or whatever. I'll be watching TBN for someone to report tax trouble over a tractor purchase or anything else purchased out of state /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif.

The financing issue sounds about right. The deal I could have taken was COD. If I went to the dealer to pick it up, I would have to pay the tax. Instead I went local, paid the tax and all is wonderful. I'll send a PM.

Just like we don't have to buy, a dealer doesn't have to sell. So if there is "sour grapes" following the sale, I'd hope it would be ironed out prior to the closing

not sure where in MA you're located - (heck, i'll take a wild guess @ shirley, MA off rt 2).

i'm not going to go into the NH vs. MA issue, but i'll recommend Ken's Tractor Truck in Troy, NH. he's located ~1 hr from the junction of 495/Rt 2.

Thanks for everyone's input! I'm sticking with my local dealer! The machine is in a crate and will take a couple days to setup. Will let you folks know know when it's in my yard.

How is everything near the former Fort Devens, where I spent many years working for the Army. I miss the area, and I miss a lot of the people I met and worked with over the years. It was a great assignment.

Devens is doing well. They dropped the Fort Devens name a while ago. There is limitled Military presence up there anymore. The local government and various organizations have done a fantastic job transforming the base into an actual town. They recently got their own zip code. There are new buildings with lots of businesses moving in. Some of the old housing is being converted to single family homes. Nice success story. Oh forgot to mention, Police from all around the state use Devens as a place to learn performance driving. Most days you can hear them up there beating the daylights out of OUR police cars.....LOL
