To make the story short, 2007 model 850 hours. Original PTO has always done a safety stop when it's got to warm. About 200 hours ago, muffler and muffler shield stripped out and were removed. Recently when using PTO failed and never came back even after being cooled all the way down. I figured it was a no brainer at 850 hours that it was burned up and time to be replaced. I just installed a brand new PTO, muffler and heat shield. Mower fires up tranny drive works just fine but when you toggle to engage the blades there is no one home. Any body who truly knows their stuff please respond...

Do you have a volt meter? Disconnect the wire at the PTO, activate the switch and see if you are getting 12 or more volts through the wire. If no voltage trace the wire back to the toggle switch, looking for a relay and or fuse. Some mower have both a fuse and relay in the wire coming from the toggle switch. Also is the air gap on the new PTO correct? Most like a air gap of 17 thousands. If you have voltage to the PTO and the air gap is correct you may have been sold a defective PTO. Also make sure the key-way was re-installed.

Check the PTO switch . Check the fuse. Check the wiring connection to the clutch ,it could have pulled off at the connection.
