I just replaced a bad hydraulic line on my Branson 3510 backhoe, and now all backhoe and front-end loader functions are slow and weak. I expected a little trouble with air in the lines, but figured it would work out of the system with use. I have not changed the hydraulic filter, so that could be giving me some trouble, however, I suspect something else is amiss. Just had a new pump installed last year, and it seems to be OK. Has anyone had similar problems with their compact tractor, and if so, how were they resolved? Thanks.

Has the machine been working OK since new pump?

If you install a hyd gage in your hyd system, you could probably solve all your hyd problems.

Weak to me means pressure is not right. If the machine is not doing it's job, and you are showing no leaks, then the pressure is going out the relief valve or passing by the seals.

I have had hyd pumps slowly wear out, and you can see that using a gage. You can't lift as much as you used to. The machine can only do so much as the pump is producing the pressure. Less pressure less work.

Check all your filters.

Have you changed anything other than the hose?

Air in hyd lines should be expelled as you cycle the cyl's.

Thanks for the reply, J_J. It took a little while, but the problem eventually resolved itself. Must have been trapped air?

It would be handy to have a hydraulic gauge, though.
