I managed to break off my hydraulic filter housing this weekend. Has anyone else done anything like this with their Branson Tractor? Also has anyone looked into building a skid plate for them?

I was pushing down some small trees and had just grabbed one with the box blade to drag to the debris pile. When I backed up to untangle it from the root rakes, I guess a limb had found it's way under there and pried off the filter and broke the housing. I am just hoping this is a one time fluke kind of thing.

Wow! Sorry for the loss. Seems like things like this happen when one lest expects them. Then it's forced down time until a repair part can be installed. Frustrating I'm sure, but fortunately repairable. How difficult does it look to be to get a new one on there? A cage of some kind might help - but it too could get caught possibly and could maybe make any damage harder to fix?

I was able to remove the housing pretty easily. Not sure how much fluid I lost or even how much is supposed to be in the machine. The owners manual doesn't have that information in the specifications that I could find.1959_1490545958283.jpeg

I am just wondering what that thing is going to cost...not much to it really.

Is there any chance that broken nipple can just unscrew? Might be less costly than a whole new unit.

No, that was one of the first things I checked. It is machined out of a cast metal part. Good idea though.

Holds about 9 gallons if it's an HST. Site glass to the right of the pto to see the level. Level should be in the middle of the glass.

Thanks for the information. I've been looking all day and finally settled on a guesstimate of 7 gallons...either way I have to buy two 5 gallon jugs.

I know this is an older post. BuI was wondering if you got this resolved. I had exactly the same thing happen on my 3515h. I'm pretty sure i lost most of the fluid. I cringe having to contact my dealer parts department, it's always been a bad experience. Like the tractor but service and parts are a nightmare. What would you expect from a dealer that name is also a gambling game
