I am a newbie. Go to pick up my Branson 4520R tomorrow. It comes with a FEL and BH76 backhoe. Sometime soon I would like to buy a root grapple. What do I need to get third function hydraulic capability?

Is this something someone with basic mechanical skills can install?

Any recommendations on root grapples?

Thanks and looking forward to conversing with y'all!

Most customers easily install the WR Long 3rd Function Hydraulic kit without any issue. Everything needed is included and it's custom to the tractor/loader you have. We're currently offering a $50 coupon code when you order a kit and grapple at the same time.

Obviously, my favorite grapple is our Wicked Grapple. I'm a little partial to 60" Single Lid because of the many pics and feedback I've received, but some applications call for different sizes and configurations. Personal preference comes into play as well.

Here are the choices. You'll absolutely LOVE it!
Single Lid Wicked Grapple
Dual Lid Wicked Grapple

Some of my favorite Branson/Wicked Grapple pics.
Feel free to give me a call to chat.

All comments by Ted at EA are good. But for my applications, I like the dual lid grapples. I'm often moving logs to my little mill and sometimes that are far from symmetrical. A dual lid will grab about anything.

And a handy guy can install the hydraulics, no problem.

The bottom two pics above are my tractor. Install of the WR Long kit was easy enough. I did ultimately shorten the supplied hoses. But I was glad to have a bit extra rather than not enough!

Sidecar,

Not to derail the thread, but couldn't help noticing your rear tire clearance to fenders is almost nonexistent. Is that the stock configuration, or did you modify your rims, or change your rear tire size?

Also, like your place, looks nice.

Tires are stock, clearance is better than it looks in the photos about 2" at the closest point.

Thanks for the complement, East TN is a great place to live. The property needs attention and I've picked the best tools I could find for that. The grapple was great for removing that tree (and many others) it will get some use this afternoon too dealing with a couple of blow downs from recent storms.

Those are the 25s. They look awesome.
