Branson 4720H
I purchased my first Branson tractor and it has about 80 hours on it I was going to do some mowing and when I switched the PTO to link the light comes on but the PTO does not engage maybe I am doing something wrong have the gear set at 540 I tried both ranges does not engage

Do you feel the gear engaging when moving the PTO lever? With the engine OFF, try to rotate the PTO shaft by hand and try to engage the PTO gear. Might be the linkage out of adjustment.

did you lower your 3 point?
Also, does yours have the turn switches?
On my tractor I have to raise the 3 point before the pto will work.
Also, the linked did you have your tractor in gear and the clutch out and the hydro moving?
does it work when not in the link position?

Also check your PTO speed selector. Midway between standard 540 and econo is a pro neutral. Dash indicator light comes on but PTO doesn't engage if in the middle neutral position. Ask me how I know this!

If you have a toggle switch pto model, check the fuse.

I changed the fuse even though it looked good no results I checked to see if I could move the PTO when in neutral it moves freely when engaged it does not move seems to be in gear

So that means it should be everything OK mechanically. Maybe the wires to the PTO solenoid got busted out by a branch or stick or something. The solenoid is located on the right side of the tractor, between the chassis and rear wheel. Take a look and check for any wiring that can be messed up.

I'll share the Service manual for the 20 series with you.

Here is the link: Branson 20 series service manual The file is really big.
